Food Ideas That Do Not Need Cooking
Cooking can be time-consuming and laborious especially in the outdoors as you would be using a makeshift kitchen. The best part is that not all the camping meals will require preparation by heat. You will, however, need some tools such as can opener, airtight zip-lock bags, ice cooler for your water and sodas, cutting board, knives and peelers.
Breakfast
Breakfast is a crucial meal to start the day. Typically it would involve coffee and pancakes and the likes but since outdoor cooking can prove to be a real hustle. Below are a few no-cook breakfasts that will give you the much-needed energy.
Cereal with Milk
Cereal with milk is a personal favorite since it only requires mixing of milk and cereal in a bowl (or dish of your preference).
Paired with fruits such as blueberries, bananas, it can serve as a nutritious dish to start your day.
Fruit Salad
The fun part about fruit salad is that you can practically throw in anything as long as it gets your taste buds dancing.
Personally, I prefer my fruit salad with yogurt. I find it more filling than if the fruit salad didn’t have yogurt.
Protein Bars
These are equipped with the right proportions of protein to keep you energized and active as you go about your day
Peanut butter and Jam/Jelly sandwich
This is also a quick breakfast snack that is easy to make. It only requires three ingredients which makes it impossible to mess up.
Lunch
Active camping involves hiking, bird and animal watching is bound to drain your energy. It is therefore essential to have an excellent energy-giving snack around lunchtime. It should significantly be more substantial as it ought to last you till dinner time. These are some no-cook quick meals that should be able to rejuvenate you.
Sandwiches
Just like PB&Js, lunch sandwiches are quite easy to make and usually are less than four ingredients. I’d recommends something meaty like chicken or beef, add some mayonnaise and some veggies such as lettuce.
If you are vegetarian, vegetables such lettuce, tomatoes, and onions can be used as a substitute for the meat.
Canned Beans
This is most campers’ go-to meal as it is full of protein to keep you highly energized. The best part about it is all you need is a can opener and a spoon.
Dinner
By the end of an active day, a camper will be drained of energy. A fulfilling meal is crucial at the end of the day. Here are some quick easy to make dinner meals one can have as they wind up their day.
Tuna Salad
This is an easy to make a meal that only requires, chopping of vegetables and mixing with the canned tuna.
Most canned tuna already has some oil which will give your salad a shiny texture. However, if you prefer more merely drizzle some olive oil onto the salad.
Beef Wrap
Beef wrap is the perfect portable meal. With fillings such as meat and vegetables, a wrap would be an ideal no-cook meal to end a busy day.
Wrap the roast beef with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions and to add a little flavor cheddar or your preferred cheese.
Conclusion
With the above ideas, you do not need to cook your food when out for camping. Make sure to notify a friend of your whereabouts before heading out. Ensure you drink lots of water to remain hydrated since you will be active all through the day.
Carry mosquito killer repellent oil to get rid of mosquitoes and other blood-sucking bugs. Do your research in your camping area to learn about various mating seasons which leave most animals in a foul temper. Last but not least, ensure to have as much fun as possible.
